General Tournament Format:
The National Tournament games shall consist of three (3) periods, each of which shall be twenty (20) minutes long, with resurfacing between each period, and applicable overtimes.
Pool play will be used in the National Tournament. The 4 days will be as follows:
A. Wednesday - Seeds (#1 vs. #4) & (#2 vs. #3) in each pool
B. Thursday - Seeds (#1 vs. #3) & (#2 vs. #4) in each pool
C. Friday - Seeds (#1 vs. #2) & (#3 vs. #4) in each pool
D. Saturday - Pool A winner vs. Pool B winner and Pool C vs. Pool D winner
There will be 7 hours off between the end of the semi final and the start of the championship game. The championship game will be the two winners playing Saturday evening.
Tournament All-Star Game:
Saturday afternoon there will be an All Star game featuring players from each team that did not qualify for the semi-finals. A representative from each team needs to be present 15min prior to the first semi-final game in the tournament office. The twelve teams will participate in a draft that allows each team to nominate a player into the All Star game until two full rosters are defined.
Overtime Procedures:
In case of a tie games at the end of regulation time, a ten-minute overtime shall be played in all preliminary games (Wed-Fri) and will be 5 on 5. Semi final and Championship games will be 20-minute periods until a winner is
determined. There will be a resurface after the 3rd period and each of the overtimes. Goalies will switch ends starting in the second overtime.
Pool Play Tie-Breakers:
In the event of ties in records in tournament competition, the higher standings will be determined by:
A. head to head competition
B. number of wins
C. Fewest goals against in all tournament games
D. Goal differential in all tournament games.
E. Fewest penalty minutes.
F. Most periods won in Pool play, determined by plus minus in goals.
G. Quickest goal recorded on score sheet in Pool play.
H. Coin flip by the Commissioner.
